SCCA Champion Spark Plug Road Racing Classic Run-offs - Road Atlanta

The three photos above ( Click to enlarge ), show the advanced stages of work on my next 1:43rd scale
CJM model.
The model chosen is the Gran Tourismo Jaguar team ( East Lake, Ohio ), 4.2 E-type Roadster, this ran very successfully, taking many wins guided by Lou Firdanza the GTJ team chief.
At Road Atlanta in 1980, this E-type was already sixteen years old, but still showed all the works Datsun 280ZX's the way home, although a deliberate attempt to ram the E-type off the track, failed on the first lap. Freddy Baker drove a brave and excellent race to bring the car home, although it was heavily damaged from one irate Datsun driver. Freddy claimed pole, led from flag to flag and clinched the lap record too ( on lap 4 at 100.088mph ), even though the tyres were fouling the body from the earlier contact !!. The guy who came home in second was Paul Newman, the actor and race driver.
